Publisher review:Poker League Manager Like many folks out there, I'm part of a weekly offline poker league. This particular league has been playing every week for a little over 2 years. It didn't take long before we realized that we have to keep track of who wins, and how much, otherwise how could we expect to brag about our super-elite poker skills to each other without hard evidence to back it up.
Luckily, there was an accountant in our midst who has an unhealthy love for stats and Excel spreadsheets. He also has some experience with website creation so it didn't take long for him to set us up a website that we could all consult to determine just how much of a beatdown we were handing out to our friends every week.Over time the detail-level of the stats we track has increased, and the website now has quite alot of information available.
The process for collecting and updating all these stats starts with a pen-and-paper recording of placing data from each game. This gets entered into a set of excel spreadsheets, which track the information and perform the calculations. The website is updated manually by inputting the data from the excel spreadsheets into HTML files by hand. In addition we use a piece of software called Tournament Director at our games to act as our timer for the rounds, and to keep track of the blind levels.Me, being the computer geek of the group, have decided it's time to step up and do what I can to apply technology to streamline and improve these processes. I'm sure there are many more of you out there that could benefit from this work, so this project will be available for all to use, and to extend yourself if desired.
